ASU 2.0 – Unified ERP Project Progress

The project to move to Banner Cloud will be implemented in three phases starting in 2019.

Phase 1: Move of the Jonesboro campus to the cloud deployment of Banner

The project to move the Jonesboro campus to the cloud depolyment of Banner is currently expected to be completed by Summer of 2020.

Phase 2: Establish the Shared Technology Solution

During Phase 2, the Shared Techonology System will be defined and deployed for the Arkansas State University System. This phase will include time to configure common processes, identify unique business practices, and standardize data definitions.

Phase 3: The Implementation of Banner by the remaining system campuses

The remaining system campuses will begin their migration to Banner after the Jonesboro campus is complete. The migration could begin by late Summer 2020 and, subject to several factors, would be completed within 18-24 months after the Jonesboro campus.

 

Historical Project Milestones
Spring 2018 to Fall 2018

ASUJ ITS visited with Higher Ed ERP Vendors for options and price range estimates for (1) ASUJ to move to the cloud and (2) to expand towards having a single ERP for all ASU System campuses.

ASUJ ITS considered all options and cost estimates.

Decision was made to renew existing agreement and  remain an Ellucian/Banner customer and leverage Banner history, knowledge base, and infrastructure experience at ASUJ.
Spring 2019 ASUJ ITS works with Ellucian to build a detailed project plan and cost estimate to (1) move ASUJ to the cloud and (2) to create a shared technology solution for all ASU System campuses to utilize the Banner ERP.
May 2019 ASUJ ITS presents detailed concept to ASUJ CFO and Chancellor, subsequently presenting concept to ASU System President and System CFO.
June 2019 ASUJ ITS presents detailed concept to ASU Board of Trustees and all ASU System Chancellors where concept is approved to move forward.
July 2019

ASUJ ITS presents costs and timeline to ASU System Chancellors, CFOs, and CIOs in Little Rock at ASU System Office.

Phases are identified as:

  • Phase I – Move ASUJ to the Cloud (8 months)
  • Phase II – Create a Shared Technology Model in the Cloud (4 months)
  • Phase III – Rollout all system campuses as a single cohort (18 months)

ASUJ holds Phase I Project kick off call with Ellucian.

November 2019 Ellucian conducts ASUJ Student Curriculum BPI review
